This event is a Roast & Toast.
Feel free to roast coffee beans, coconut shavings, chestnuts, or Brussel sprouts
(well...any vegetable, as Bill is a vegetarian)
and eat them during the virtual event.
For toasting, we recommend Champagne, Viszlay Vineyards fine wines (and) or any cocktail of your choice.
____________
Here are Cocktail recommendations from Bill
While Bill doesn't really drink cocktails, he thought you might enjoy these.
We assume Bill will be drinking lots of wine during the Roast & Toast,
in a wasted attempt to block out the event in his memory!
RECOMMENDED COCKTAIL #1
OLD FASHIONED
(if the drink fits...)
1 1/2 oz Bourbon or Rye whiskey, 1 Sugar cube, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, Few dashes plain water
The old fashioned is a cocktail made by muddling sugar with bitters and water, adding whiskey or, less commonly, brandy,
and garnishing with orange slice or zest and a cocktail cherry.
It is traditionally served in an old fashioned glass, which predated the cocktail (as does Bill!)
RECOMMENDED COCKTAIL #2
HARVEY WALLBANGER
(need we say more?)
3 parts Vodka, 1 part Galliano, 6 parts Orange Juice, garnish
The Harvey Wallbanger is a mixed drink made with vodka, Galliano, and orange juice.
Stir the vodka and orange juice with ice in the glass, then float the Galliano on top (as Bill would).
Garnish and serve.
RECOMMENDED COCKTAIL #3
DRY MARTINI
(if the drink fits...)
1/2 oz. (1 part) Dry Vermouth, 3 oz. (6 parts) Gin
Straight (well, gayly forward): Pour all ingredients into mixing glass with ice cubes. Stir well.
Strain in chilled martini cocktail glass. Squeeze oil from lemon peel onto the drink, or garnish with olive.
On The Rocks (like most marriages during COVID): Add rocks first, then follow gayly forward instructions above.
RECOMMENDED COCKTAIL #4
DOLCE POESIA
(translated = Sweet Poetry)
1 part Bourbon (of your choice), 1 part St. Germain elderflower liquor
This is the house cocktail at Poesia Osteria Italiano in the Castro.
We recommend the following drink sizes:
2 oz. & 2 oz. for sipping, 5 oz. & 5 oz. for drinking,
and 10 oz. & 10 oz. and a curly straw to make it through the entire Roast & Toast...
